The red fruits are held in abundance in spectacular clusters from mid summer to early fall. It has dark green evergreen foliage. The pointy leaves turn an outstanding brick red in the fall, which persists throughout the winter.

One of the more refined hardy groundcovers, with incredible white flowers in spring and red berries in fall; very particular about its siting, needs moist, well-drained organic and acidic soil and shade; stunning when happy.

Bunchberry performs well in both full sun and full shade. It requires an evenly moist well-drained soil for optimal growth, but will die in standing water. It is particular about its soil conditions, with a strong preference for rich, acidic soils. It is quite intolerant of urban pollution, therefore inner city or urban streetside plantings are best avoided, and will benefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location. Consider covering it with a thick layer of mulch in winter to protect it in exposed locations.

Note that when grown in a container, it may not perform exactly as indicated on the tag - this is to be expected. Also note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden. Be aware that in our climate, most plants cannot be expected to survive the winter if left in containers outdoors, and this plant is no exception.

NOTE: Some flowers and plants may be harmful or poisonous to people or pets if touched or ingested. If you require more information before placing an order, please let us know in advance.
