Prefers moist, well-drained soils. Protect from harsh, prolonged sunlight in hot, arid regions. Soil affects bloom color. Change the color of the flowers to a more blue color by adding aluminum sulfate to the soil in early spring before growth starts to emerge. Pruning the Cityline Rio Hydrangea is not necessary. This plant is small and compact already, so there is no benefit of doing so. Also, the bush grows flowers on old wood. Meaning if you prune the branches at the wrong time of year, you could be cutting off next season’s flowers before the buds have had a chance to shine. Great landscape plant adds a dash of bright color. Good in groupings or masses, in a perennial or shrub borders, as a specimen. Use in mixed containers, containers, and as a cut flower. Note that when grown in a container, it may not perform exactly as indicated on the tag - this is to be expected. Also note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden. Be aware that in our climate, most plants cannot be expected to survive the winter if left in containers outdoors, and this plant is no exception. NOTE: Some flowers and plants may be harmful or poisonous to people or pets if touched or ingested. If you require more information before placing an order, please let us know in advance. |
