Cornus alba 'Elegantissima' | USDA Zone: 2-8 |
Silver Variegated Dogwood has attractive white-variegated green foliage on a plant with a round habit of growth. The pointy leaves are highly ornamental but do not develop any appreciable fall colour. It has clusters of creamy white flowers at the ends of the branches in late spring. It produces white berries in mid summer. The red branches are extremely showy and add significant winter interest.
One of the very hardiest of the variegated shrubs for garden use, although it can grow quite large for most gardens; also features stunning red stems which show up well against the winter snow; ideal for color accent in many landscaping applications.

More About Variegated Red Twig Dogwood |
Height: 6-8 ft |
Spread: 5-6 ft |
Flower Colour: White Shades |
Silver Variegated Dogwood does best in full sun to partial shade. It is an amazingly adaptable plant, tolerating both dry conditions and even some standing water. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. Fertilize in spring. To encourage bright red stems, hard prune one-third of oldest stems annually in late winter. Note that when grown in a container, it may not perform exactly as indicated on the tag - this is to be expected. Also note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden. Be aware that in our climate, most plants cannot be expected to survive the winter if left in containers outdoors, and this plant is no exception. NOTE: Some flowers and plants may be harmful or poisonous to people or pets if touched or ingested. If you require more information before placing an order, please let us know in advance. |
