More About Girard's Fuchsia Evergreen Azalea |
Height: 2-3 ft |
Spread: 4-5 ft |
Flower Colour: Pink / Red Shades |
Girard's Fuchsia Evergreen Azalea does best in full sun to partial shade. You may want to keep it away from hot, dry locations that receive direct afternoon sun or which get reflected sunlight, such as against the south side of a white wall. It requires an evenly moist well-drained soil for optimal growth, but will die in standing water. It is very fussy about its soil conditions and must have rich, acidic soils to ensure success, and is subject to chlorosis (yellowing) of the foliage in alkaline soils. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution, and will benefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location. Consider applying a thick mulch around the root zone in winter to protect it in exposed locations. You don’t need to prune Azaleas, but pruning after they are done blooming can help encourage a bushier growth and renew an older plant. Note that when grown in a container, it may not perform exactly as indicated on the tag - this is to be expected. Also note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden. Be aware that in our climate, most plants cannot be expected to survive the winter if left in containers outdoors, and this plant is no exception. NOTE: Some flowers and plants may be harmful or poisonous to people or pets if touched or ingested. If you require more information before placing an order, please let us know in advance. |

Unbelievably gorgeous
I cannot recommend this azalea enough. Ours arrived absolutely bursting with buds; it was so covered in flowers when it started blooming that the leaves were hidden for at least a couple of weeks at its peak. Because there are so many flowers, it's been continually blooming for a solid month, with blooms on the bottom and closer to the interior of the plant taking over after the more upward and outward flowers faded. And the foliage is gorgeous, too! Bright, shiny green leaves in a beautiful overall shrub shape. It's sure to be a highlight in winter, as a (somewhat) evergreen among all the died-back perennials. Hugely recommended.
