Brilliance Autumn Fern is primarily valued in the garden for its cascading habit of growth. Its attractive glossy ferny compound leaves emerge coral-pink in spring, turning forest green in colour with prominent coppery-bronze tips the rest of the year.
Lovely deep green fronds; fiddleheads and fronds emerge copper colored; great woodland and shade garden plant; keep evenly moist.
Easy to grow and adaptable to drier soils in cool, shaded locations. This fern is particularly nice when grown in woodland or Japanese gardens.

Brilliance Autumn Fern does best in partial shade to shade. It is quite adaptable, prefering to grow in average to wet conditions, and will even tolerate some standing water. It is particular about its soil conditions, with a strong preference for rich, acidic soils. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution, and will benefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location. Consider applying a thick mulch around the root zone over the growing season to conserve soil moisture. Provide organically rich, slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soil. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system; once established, water regularly to maintain evenly moist soil. Fertilize regularly during the growing season. Cut back old fronds after new growth begins in spring. Note that when grown in a container, it may not perform exactly as indicated on the tag - this is to be expected. Also note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden. Be aware that in our climate, most plants cannot be expected to survive the winter if left in containers outdoors, and this plant is no exception.
