Calamintha nepeta ssp. nepeta | USDA Zone: 5-9 |
Dwarf Calamint features dainty spikes of lilac purple trumpet-shaped flowers rising above the foliage from early summer to early fall. Its fragrant oval leaves remain green in colour throughout the season.
This sun-loving perennial is the perfect choice for attracting pollinators, since it blooms from early summer until frost. Tiny, white flowers cover the bushy habit. Since this is in the mint family, the leaves carry a mint scent. Perfect for rock garden enthusiasts and herb gardens.
A good choice also for mixed containers. Clumps may be easily divided in early spring. In regions with humid summers this sometimes benefits from a hard clip back in August, to rejuvenate the leaves. Tolerates both dry and moist soils.
Dwarf Calamint is recommended for the following landscape applications;
- Mass Planting
- Rock/Alpine Gardens

Flower Colour: White Shades |
Calamint does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and shouldn't be allowed to dry out. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. Note that when grown in a container, it may not perform exactly as indicated on the tag - this is to be expected. Also note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden. Be aware that in our climate, most plants cannot be expected to survive the winter if left in containers outdoors, and this plant is no exception. NOTE: Some flowers and plants may be harmful or poisonous to people or pets if touched or ingested. If you require more information before placing an order, please let us know in advance. |
