Lamb's Ears's attractive tomentose oval leaves emerge silver in spring, turning gray in colour throughout the season on a plant with a mounded habit of growth. It has masses of beautiful spikes of pink flowers rising above the foliage in early summer, which are most effective when planted in groupings.

Use lamb's ear at the front of the border spreader, both perennial and dryland palettes. Makes a soft collar around the base of bird bath or sun dial. Stuff into pockets in crumbling stone walls and rock garden embankments. Use as a foliage contrast groundcover for fine textured grasses and sedges or burgundy leafed perennials. Popular for edging flagstone walks to integrate the entire length. Note that when grown in a container, it may not perform exactly as indicated on the tag - this is to be expected. Also note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden. Be aware that in our climate, most plants cannot be expected to survive the winter if left in containers outdoors, and this plant is no exception.
