Dicentra 'Luxuriant' | USDA Zone: 3-9 |
Luxuriant Bleeding Heart features delicate nodding cherry red heart-shaped flowers dangling from the stems from mid spring to late summer. Its ferny compound leaves remain bluish-green in colour throughout the season.
A compact variety with more heat and sun tolerance than most bleeding hearts; features lush mounds of blue-green foliage with arching sprays of nodding, cherry red, heart shaped flowers; blooms for an extended period, perfect for borders and containers.
Unlike the Common Bleeding Heart, 'Luxuriant' will not go dormant in midsummer as long as the soil is kept moist. Rather, it will enchant passersby all season long.

Height: 12-15 inches |
Spread: 12-18 inches |
Flower Colour: Pink Shades |
Bleeding Heart does best in partial shade to shade. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and shouldn't be allowed to dry out. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in rich soils. It is quite intolerant of urban pollution, therefore inner city or urban streetside plantings are best avoided. Consider applying a thick mulch around the root zone over the growing season to conserve soil moisture. Note that when grown in a container, it may not perform exactly as indicated on the tag - this is to be expected. Also note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden. Be aware that in our climate, most plants cannot be expected to survive the winter if left in containers outdoors, and this plant is no exception. NOTE: Some flowers and plants may be harmful or poisonous to people or pets if touched or ingested. If you require more information before placing an order, please let us know in advance. |
