Allium Rising Star rounded clusters of lavender pink flowers are produced from late spring into early summer, pairing well with late season bulbs and other early blooming perennials.
This is a compact variety of common chives with a shorter height that works better for containers; fine, gray-green foliage is topped with lavender-pink flowers in late spring; flowers and leaves are edible; also great along borders.

Allium is very easy to grow in full sun to part shade. It will tolerate soil of any fertility and will grow in clay soil. This selection has not been known to reseed and is not invasive. It may be propagated in fall by digging it up and dividing the rhizome with the bulblets attached. Allium is typically pest and disease free. Its aromatic foliage also makes it deer and rabbit resistant. Note that when grown in a container, it may not perform exactly as indicated on the tag - this is to be expected. Also note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden. Be aware that in our climate, most plants cannot be expected to survive the winter if left in containers outdoors, and this plant is no exception.
