Weigela florida 'Verweig8' | USDA Zone: 4-6 |
My Monet Purple Effect™ brings new color, more flowers, and better adaptability, while sharing all the charm and beauty of the original My Monet ® weigela. Its variegated cream and mint green foliage takes on purple (as opposed to pink) tones, and it is much better able to withstand the rigors of both cold and warmer climates. Though it is slightly larger, it can be used in much the same way: as a delightful companion to perennials, as a colorful edging, in a container, or anywhere you need a spot of clear, clean color.

With its naturally neat and tidy habit, little pruning should be required. Any pruning you do wish to execute should be done after the plant blooms. Prefers well drained soil but is adaptable to many soil types. It is best to prune right after flowering ceases, but pruning is rarely needed. Slow growth rate. Will continue to flower sporadically on the current season's growth. Medium moisture. Browning leaves in early fall are a result of the plant going into dormancy earlier than most weigela. This is a benefit letting the plant shut down earlier and prepare for winter. In southern states, plant in a partial shade location. Note that when grown in a container, it may not perform exactly as indicated on the tag - this is to be expected. Also note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden. Be aware that in our climate, most plants cannot be expected to survive the winter if left in containers outdoors, and this plant is no exception. NOTE: Some flowers and plants may be harmful or poisonous to people or pets if touched or ingested. If you require more information before placing an order, please let us know in advance. |
